Well hunting season is over and now we are looking forward to spring fishing. There was some outstanding waterfowl hunting in late December and January in eastern Oregon and southern Idaho. Howard, Richy, Ron, and Boone were able to enjoy Christmas together on the Powder River near North Powder, Oregon. And later, Ron and Boone were able to meet up with some of our life long buddies and one of those hunts that will be talked about for a long time; over 150 waterfowl! Now it’s time to make duck sausage! Also, The Northwest Outdoorsmen is going to air on Comcast Sportsnet Northwest starting March 3rd, 2012. We are very excited to take our DVD series to television! In addition, Richy has teamed up with Keven Strehle and his production company, Strehle Media Group, to produce a new show for Legacy Outdoors. Legacy’s Wild Country will debut sometime in March likely on FoxSports Mid-West. Check out the promotional video for this new series by visiting our Youtube Channel (http://www.youtube.com/user/HarrodOutdoors). The fall hunting season has been fantastic so far! Archery season was really hot and dry but hunts were successful despite the poor weather conditions. Richy and Ron both shot branched antlered bull elk on the Malheur National Forest in eastern Oregon, and Ron shot a really nice mule deer buck in the Wallowa Mountains in northeastern Oregon. Howard, Richy, Ron, and good friend Riley just returned from a Wyoming antelope hunt. All 12 antelope tags were filled! Waterfowl hunting is now open and it’s time to find the greenheads. And, Richy’s cousin Sam will be joining him for an archery deer hunt in central Washington in late November. It’s the best time of the year, get out there and do it yourself!

The fishing in eastern Oregon and northcentral Washington has been fantastic this summer! Ron had another outstanding kokanee fishery at Wallowa Lake with several large fish caught and one over 7 lbs! The guys from Mack’s Lure traveled down with Richy for a very successful kokanee fishing trip with Ron in early June.  June and July were great months for catching large triploids in Rufus Woods, which is the portion of the Columbia River above Chief Joseph Dam near Bridgeport, Washington. These trout are amazingly large and are fantastic table fare. Near Brewster in the Columbia, Richy recently fished with a couple of friends and was fortunate to catch a 5.3 lb. smallmouth bass; his biggest bass ever!  Walleye fishing was hit or miss in both Banks Lake and Lake Roosevelt. Now, the Harrods have their sights set on their annual elk hunting trip in eastern Oregon. Hopefully, there will be some pictures and stories to tell soon!  Also, the Harrods will be joining long time friends Ron and Riley Pratt for an October antelope hunt in Wyoming. Fall is coming and it’s a great time to get out and enjoy the great Northwest
